Hardcover Book, 1952 First Edition, Hear the Train Blow, Lucius Beebe, Charles Clegg, American Railroad Pictorial, Railroad History

A wonderful first edition of the hardcover book Hear The Train Blow. The authors are Lucius Beebe and Charles Clegg. It's a pictorial and history of American Railroads.

This fantastic book is a picture story, amplified with text, of the railroads as they have played their part in the history, economy, geography, legend, folklore and consciousness of America. It explores the background against which the railroads flourished in the age of steam and the impact they have had on the lives of four generations.

Lucius Morris Beebe was born December 9, 1902, and died February 4, 1966. He was an American author, photographer, railroad historian, journalist, and syndicated columnist. Beebe was inducted into the Nevada Writers Hall of Fame in 1992.

Charles Myron Clegg, Jr. was born June 29, 1916, and died August 25, 1979. He was an American author, photographer, and railroad historian. Clegg is primarily remembered as the lifelong friend of famed railroad author Lucius Beebe and was a co-author of many of Beebe's best-known books.

This book is in great condition. There is wear on the binding, edges, and covers but this is to be expected considering the age of this book. This was a library book so there are some library markings and a card holder on the back cover. There are not any marks, writing, or rips on any of the pages other than the fore mentioned library marks. The pages have yellowed a bit with age also.
