Vintage Precious Moments “Worship The Lord” wall cross featuring the artwork of Samuel J. Butcher. This porcelain cross features a young girl kneeling in prayer beneath an arched window. Soft pastel shades of blue, pink, lavender, and green decorate the cross with raised flowers and a large bow. The words “Worship The Lord” appear along the lower portion. The cross has a high-gloss finish that gives the pastel colors a soft luminous appearance. A hanging opening on the back allows it to be displayed on a wall. A sweet vintage religious wall decoration for a Precious Moments collector, nursery, child's room, baptism or First Communion gift.

History
Precious Moments grew from the artwork of American illustrator Samuel J. Butcher, whose teardrop-eyed children originally appeared on greeting cards. Butcher's work was strongly influenced by themes of faith, family and friendship. Enesco introduced the first 21 Precious Moments porcelain figurines in 1978, beginning what became an enormous collectible giftware line. As the collection became popular, Precious Moments designs appeared on far more than the familiar freestanding figurines. Enesco produced religious giftware and wall decorations using Butcher's artwork, including porcelain crosses such as this one. Religious subjects were particularly appropriate to the line because Christian faith was part of Butcher's original artwork and inspiration.
