Vintage 1965 Jim Reeves Up Through the Years LP, RCA Victor LSP-3427 Stereo

Released in 1965, Up Through the Years looks back at Jim Reeves' early recording career with songs recorded during the years before he became one of country music's most recognizable voices. This album contains twelve recordings from different periods in Reeves' career, including “I Know One,” “Bimbo,” “Pride Goes Before a Fall,” “Young Hearts,” “I'm Hurtin' Inside” and “Nooientjie Van Die Ou Transvaal.” The original RCA Victor inner sleeve is included and features advertising for RCA releases and Dynagroove records.

Cover:
The older heavy-style paperboard cover has held up very well. There is edge and corner wear, some rubbing and mild yellowing from age. There are no seam splits.
Inner Sleeve:
Original RCA Victor advertising inner sleeve is included. It has two small seam splits but otherwise remains in very good condition.
Vinyl:
The record retains a nice glossy surface with some light surface marks from handling and play. There are no deep scratches or gouges visible. Labels are clean and readable.

History:
Jim Reeves died in a plane crash on July 31, 1964, at only 40 years old. RCA Victor continued releasing material from his extensive collection of recordings after his death, and Up Through the Years appeared in 1965. Rather than concentrating solely on the polished Nashville Sound recordings for which Reeves became famous, the album reaches back through different stages of his career. The selections include material dating from his early recording years and show some of the musical development that eventually led to his smooth, restrained vocal style. The album was produced by Chet Atkins, an important figure in the development of the Nashville Sound and Reeves' recording career. Up Through the Years reached No. 1 on Billboard's country album chart in 1965, showing the remarkable popularity Reeves continued to enjoy after his death.
This copy is RCA Victor catalog number LSP-3427(e). The “Electronically Reprocessed” designation indicates that recordings originally made in mono were electronically processed by RCA to produce a stereo effect.
