This vintage wall clock coordinates with International China's popular Marmalade dinnerware pattern. The familiar country design features white geese gathered around a peach-colored apple tied with a flowing blue ribbon, surrounded by gray flowers and leaves. Small floral and fruit accents decorate the scalloped rim. Large black numerals mark 12, 3, 6 and 9, with smaller black flowers marking the remaining hours. The clock is marked Elgin on the face and has an Elgin quartz battery movement on the back. A nice coordinating piece for an International China Marmalade collection or a vintage country kitchen.
The ceramic clock measures approximately 11 inches in diameter, about the size of a dinner plate. A hanger is incorporated into the clock movement for wall display.
The clock has been tested with a battery and is working and keeping time. There is no second hand, so we allowed it to run to make sure the hands continued to advance properly.
Condition:
Very good vintage condition with no chips, cracks or crazing. The design and numbers remain clear and bright.
Uses one AA battery — battery is not included.
History
International China Company's Marmalade pattern was introduced in the late 1980s and is generally associated with the country-style dinnerware and kitchen accessories popular during that period. The pattern features geese, fruit, blue ribbons and floral accents on a lightly speckled neutral background. Marmalade was more than a basic dinnerware pattern. International China used the design across coordinating pieces and kitchen accessories, allowing buyers to carry the same country motif beyond their place settings.
