Libbey Shot Glass, White 2 Oz Pour Line, Heavy Paneled Base, Mid Century Barware

$12.00

Vintage Libbey clear shot glass with a heavy paneled base and white measuring line. The glass has a substantial weighted bottom with vertical panels and a clean, straightforward barware design. Around the upper portion is a white line with a small geometric detail incorporated into the design. The measuring line holds approximately 2 ounces. The bottom is marked with Libbey's cursive "L" trademark. A nice piece of vintage American barware that was designed to be practical as well as attractive. The heavy base gives the small glass a surprisingly substantial feel in the hand.

History
Libbey's American glassmaking roots reach back to the New England Glass Company in East Cambridge, Massachusetts. Edward Drummond Libbey moved the operation to Toledo, Ohio, in 1888, and the Libbey Glass Company name was adopted in 1892. The cursive "L" found on the bottom identifies this glass as Libbey. Libbey used several variations of the cursive-L trademark over many years. Trademark records document Libbey's use of a cursive L for drinking glasses beginning in the mid-1950s.
