Vintage House of Lloyd Old Christmas Crescent Santa Wall Hanging, Christmas Around the World
$18.00
This cheerful fellow is Old Christmas Santa, a vintage wall hanging from House of Lloyd's Christmas Around the World collection, dating to the 1990s. Santa's long textured beard curls upward to form the bottom of the crescent, while his traditional red stocking cap curves over the top. His rosy face, flowing beard and unusual open crescent design give him plenty of old-fashioned Christmas character without taking up a great deal of wall space. Two holes on the back allow him to be hung on the wall. He still retains his original gold foil Made in China sticker and comes with his original Christmas Around the World box. A fun piece of vintage Christmas décor for a Santa collection, holiday wall display or anyone who likes traditional Christmas decorations with a little personality.
Measures approximately:
7 inches high
8⅜ inches across
Condition:
Excellent vintage condition. No chips, cracks or crazing that we can see. Santa's face, beard and hat remain clean with no noticeable rubbing or decorative loss. The original box is included and shows expected storage wear, including rubbing and wear along the edges and corners.
History
House of Lloyd marketed a large assortment of seasonal decorations through its popular Christmas Around the World line, particularly during the 1980s and 1990s. The collection included Santas, ornaments, figurines and decorative household pieces sold for holiday decorating and collecting. This particular design was sold as Old Christmas Santa, Stock No. 541478.
Rather than portraying Santa as a conventional full figure, the designer used his long beard and stocking cap to create an open crescent shape. The result is unmistakably Santa while also serving as a decorative wall piece.
