A clear glass half-pint milk bottle is from Ballston Spa. N.Y. It is Embossed with the name of the dairy. There is no embossing on the back
D. K. Stewart operated a dairy business on Bath Street in Ballston Spa as early as 1925. A 1926 directory identifies him as "Donald K. Stewart, milk dealer, 49 Bath Street" with a residence at 78 Ballston Ave, Ballston Spa, NY.
Directories from the 1940s show D. K. Stewart also operated dairy businesses in Saratoga and Mechanicville, NY. By the second half of the 1940s, they were listed simply as Stewart's Ice Cream.
The days of home milk delivery in glass bottles are a thing of the past. But just like the past loves to be remembered so does the milk bottle.
