A beautiful porcelain fine china slipper imported by Lefton GZL (George Zoltan Lefton) and made in Occupied Japan. The shoe has raised roses, lace edges with gold trim and a stiletto heel. The shoe is very collectible. This would be beautiful in a curio cabinet or on a vanity. It would make a great gift idea or start your own collection here.
Many items being exported from Japan from 1945 to 1952 were required by law to be marked with the words “Occupied Japan”, or “Made in Occupied Japan”. General Douglas MacArthur started this law to help Japanese people with their post-war economic recovery.
The Lefton mark can be found on a wide array of pottery, porcelain, and glass imported into the United States by the George Zoltan Lefton Company. The company was founded by this new immigrant from Hungary after he arrived in Chicago, Illinois in 1939 and established the company in 1940. George Lefton had previously worked in the clothing and sportswear industry, but he was a collector of fine porcelain and dreamed of entering that business. America offered the backdrop for even a new immigrant into the country to have a chance at commercial success. George Zoltan Lefton had always admired the quality and workmanship in finer Japanese and oriental porcelain, and after the end of World War II, he pursued business relationships in Occupied Japan to export Japanese porcelain to America through his company. Lefton imported a wide variety of pieces, from kitchenware and utilitarian pieces to purely decorative pieces to be displayed on the living room shelf.

This porcelain slipper is in excellent condition. There are no cracks or crazing. This is a tiny chip on the under lace piece but you have to really look hard to see it. The flowers are all intact.
This would make a great wedding shower, wedding, hostess, or housewarming gift.
