A hardcover book entitled This Side of Innocence by Taylor Caldwell. This is a 1946 First Edition. The cover boards are gold with red lettering on the front board and on the spine.
The setting for this book is a town in Upstate New York round about 1867. It covers a time span of twenty years. It is a story of two people. A son who had squandered his fortune and who only took his place at the bank solely to do his foster brother out of his inheritance and a woman who is an unscrupulous adventurer.
Janet Miriam Holland Taylor Caldwell (1900 – 1985) was an Anglo-American novelist and prolific author of popular fiction. She was also known by the pen names Marcus Holland and Max Reiner. In her fiction, she often used real historical events or persons. This Side of Innocence was the biggest fiction seller of 1946, spending more than six months on the New York Times Fiction Best Seller list, including nine weeks at #1.

This is a used book and is Fair condition. The book has no rips or tears. The binding is completely intact but loose. The interior pages are clean. The edges of the book have wear especially around the top binding, please see photos. There is a previous owners sticker on the inside front cover and a synopsis taped to the front flyleaf.
