There are pictures on every page of the historical narrative, and ten picture portfolios. This book is now out of print.
Seldom has the subject of eating and drinking—from the Bronze Age to the recent past—been treated to a full- length history. It deserves better. Part I of The HORIZON COOKBOOK AND ILLUSTRATED HISTORY OF EATING AND DRINKING THROUGH THE AGES is a history of civilized man’s long culinary heritage. Woven into the historical narrative are hundreds of anecdotes and incidents that make intriguing reading and bear mealtime retelling. Part II has more than 600 recipes, the largest collection of historical recipes ever assembled in a single volume. The collection gives every cook, from novice to chef, a chance to create savory and unusual dishes from a wide range of periods and places.
William Harlan Hale (1910 – 1974) was an American writer, journalist, and editor.

This book is in Very Good condition. The binding is tight. The book has no markings in the inside only a previous owner's name on a bookplate on the front flyleaf. The pages are all clean and bright. The covers show little shelf ware. The dust cover is also in very good condition with no rips or tears. It does have rubbing along the edges from age.
This would make a great gift idea for the person who loves to cook or is just learning to cook.
