A beautiful porcelain bird figurine by Wales Japan. The bird is a Cockatoo hand painted in soft pastel colors. It was imported by the New York Merchandise Co., Inc. This bird would be a great addition to a collection, the start of a collection, or a gift for a bird lover.
The New York Merchandise Co., Inc. was incorporated in 1920 and closed in 2009. It was a company which imported and distributed ready-made items from various unnamed manufacturers located in Japan. They specialized in tableware, miniature tea sets, and figurines, re-selling them under their WALES CHINA brand.
