This is a very beautiful cup and saucer made in Japan. The bird pattern is hand painted and has a lusterware finish. Lusterware is a type of pottery or porcelain with a metallic glaze that gives the effect of iridescence. The teacup is made of eggshell porcelain which is very thin.
