Antique Gravy Boat, K T & K, Knowles Taylor and Knowles, Semi-Vitreous Porcelain, Pink Rose Pattern, Serving Dish, Sauce Boat

This is a lovely antique gravy boat by K T & K (Knowles, Taylor, & Knowles) in Semi-Vitreous porcelain. It has a beautiful pink rose pattern, gold trim and light embossing. This piece would make a great addition to an antique collection. It would be a lovely addition to a china cabinet, a table or used as a gravy/sauce boat. It could also be used as a centerpiece filled with flowers.

The initials “K.T. & K.” stand for Knowles, Taylor & Knowles Company. Isaac Watts Knowles and Isaac Harvey, who operated a store boat (floating store) along the Ohio River selling pottery, had established a pottery in East Liverpool, Ohio, in 1854. Knowles bought out Harvey in 1856. He formed Knowles, Taylor, Knowles in 1870 when his son-in-law John N. Taylor and his son Homer S. Knowles joined the company which was incorporated in 1891. In 1891, the original Knowles, Taylor & Knowles had 35 kilns in operation and employed approximately 700 workers.
Knowles, Taylor, and Knowles continued to make semi-porcelain eventually joining the American China Corporation. The company ceased operations in 1931. Knowles, Taylor & Knowles should not be confused with the Edwin M. Knowles China Company of Newell, West Virginia.

Size:
4¼ inches in height
7½ inches in length
4 inches in width

This is an antique gravy boat. As such it does show signs of being used over the years. It is over 100 years old. It has no chips or cracks, but it does have some light crazing and only minor rubbing to the gold trim which is amazing considering the age of this piece.
