This is a beautiful demitasse teacup and saucer from Japan. It is made of porcelain in the Moriage style of raised dots. There is no backstamp on these pieces and our price reflects this. The pattern consists of pink flowers against a green background with a blue edging and gold trim. This set would be great for a collector or as a display piece, it would look fantastic in a china cabinet, make a great conversation piece.
Moriage, a Japanese word that translates as “heap up,” is a trailed-slip decoration originally used to indicate the gilt beading seen on Japanese pottery.
A demitasse is a small cup used to serve Turkish coffee or espresso. Demitasse is the French word for half cup.

The teacup and saucer are in excellent condition. There are no chips cracks or crazing. There is some rubbing to the gold trim which is normal for china of this age.
This is a great set for the collector. It would make a marvelous gift for a holiday, or special occasion.
