Antique EAPG Celery Vase, Lyon & Co., Seneca Loop, Paneled, Circa 1860s, Spooner

A beautiful antique EAPG (Early American Pressed Glass) celery vase by Lyon & Co. The pattern is called Seneca Loop. The pattern was also known as Loop, Barrel Loop, Yuma Loop and O'Hara. From around 1850 to 1920 fine dinnerware sets had a celery vase or bowl. Celery being a difficult and time-consuming plant to grow it was usually purchased and considered a delicacy. It was placed on the dinner table, buffet or sideboard to impress guests. Since today that is not necessary, there are still many ways to use these vases. They are great for holding silverware on a buffet table, beautiful flower vase, or as a celery vase as intended.

Size:
8½ inches in height
4 inches in diameter

This vase is in excellent condition. There are no chips or cracks. It is approximately 160 years old.

A wonderful gift idea for a holiday or special occasion. Great gift for a collector of antique glass.
