Here’s a hardworking pair of vintage oval platters made by Buffalo China. These are the real deal — thick, heavy restaurant ironstone that saw years of service, probably in a busy diner or cafeteria. Each platter measures 11½ inches long by 9 inches wide and features a classic speckled beige glaze with double brown bands around the rim. They’ve got that well-loved, been-through-the-wringer look. The glaze has worn down from use and many rounds through a commercial dishwasher, but there are no chips or cracks. Just honest wear from decades of doing their job. These are still sturdy as ever and have plenty of life left in them.
