At first glance, this glass looks like it was made to hold flowers — and truthfully, it does that beautifully. The gentle hourglass shape gives it the right balance for a handful of fresh stems, and the frosted oval-and-dash Cameo pattern adds just enough detail to catch the light. This piece is actually a small carafe made by Javit sometime in the 1950s–1970s. Back then, it would have been set out for juice, wine, or bedside water service. Today, it works equally well as a vase for any variety of flowers. Whether you use it for serving or as a vase, it’s a piece of mid-century glassware that carries its history gracefully into everyday life.
