Antique EAPG Glass Bowls, Bryce Higbee Monarch Pattern, Set of 2

$50.00

These two little square footed bowls were made over a century ago by Bryce, Higbee & Co. in their Monarch pattern, also known as Beautiful Lady. The design is bold and full of detail, with radiating fans, hobstars, with a scalloped edge. Under a blacklight they glow a soft yellow, a sure sign of the old uranium glass content collectors prize. They’ve made it through more than 115 years without a mark, which is saying something for pressed glass this old. These bowls date from around 1905–1907, right before Bryce, Higbee merged into U.S. Glass. They’re fine examples of Early American Pattern Glass, whether you collect by maker, by uranium glow, or just enjoy setting out a pair of sparkling dishes for candy or fruit. If you like glass that feels like it carries a bit of old American history, these are keepers. They’re not just dishes — they’re a glimpse of 1905, still here, still shining.
