There’s a certain look to early 1900s American dinnerware — the kind that reminds you of Sunday dinners, sunlight on the table, and your grandmother’s careful hands carrying dishes from the sideboard. This 10-inch vegetable bowl is one of those pieces. Made by Homer Laughlin around the 1920s, it features a soft yellow-green luster rim that fades into a cream center, with a basket of colorful flowers printed right in the middle. The edge is gently embossed and scalloped, giving it a quiet elegance without being fussy. The glaze still shines beautifully after a century, and the colors are bright and fresh. Perfect for display, serving vegetables, or holding fruit on the table. However you use it, this old luster bowl will bring a bit of the past to your home — quiet, pretty, and still shining after all these years.
There’s no backstamp, which is not unusual for dinnerware from this period — many pieces were sold through jobbers or department stores without any factory mark at all. The lack of a stamp doesn’t make it any less Homer Laughlin; the shape and glaze tell the story.
