The Year of the Seal by Victor B. Scheffer, First Edition, Nature and Wildlife Book

$25.00

Sometimes a book comes along that slows you down in the best way, and The Year of the Seal is one of those. Written in 1970 by Victor B. Scheffer, a marine biologist who knew these animals inside and out, this hardcover takes you through a full year in the life of the northern fur seal — their migrations, their storms, their pups, and all the quiet moments in between. The illustrations by Leonard Everett Fisher have that strong, old-school look that pulls you right in. This particular copy has stood the years well. The dust jacket has yellowed with time — as they all do — but it has no tears or rips. The covers underneath are clean and sharp, the spine is tight, and the pages are bright with no marks. It looks like it was handled with respect. If you enjoy natural history, or you collect classic wildlife books, this is a solid piece to have on your shelf. Printed by Charles Scribner’s Sons in 1970, this is a first edition.

Condition Notes:
Dust jacket intact, no rips or tears, just age-yellowing
Clean boards with no marks
Tight spine
Pages bright and unmarked
Strong illustrations throughout
