This little Madame Alexander doll is lovely, but not perfect. She’s the 8-inch “India” doll from the International series, complete with her original blue box. These dolls were made from the late 1970s into the 1980s, and she has all the classic features from that era — the sweet painted face, the dark hair, and the soft sari trimmed in gold thread. Her sari shows a few age stains on one side, and there’s a small mark on her cheek. These dolls were held together with tiny internal rubber bands, and after all these decades those bands can get brittle, so I haven’t attempted to clean her. She’s exactly as I found her. Even with her flaws, she still has a gentle charm. Her original box comes with her, and she displays well — especially if you enjoy vintage Madame Alexander dolls with a bit of life behind them. She’d make a thoughtful addition to a multicultural collection or a sweet starter piece for someone who loves the International Series. If you don’t mind a doll with a little history written on her clothing and face, she’ll make a fine companion on a shelf.
