Children’s Book, Brave Brush-Tail Possum, Weekly Reader

$10.00

This little hardcover has been around since 1979, when Weekly Reader sent books like this home through the schools. Brave Brush-Tail Possum was written by Diane Redfield Massie, and it’s one of those gentle stories that takes you right back to the children’s books of the late ’70s—soft colors, kind characters, and a simple message about bravery and friendship. A nice addition for anyone collecting Weekly Reader books, ’70s children’s literature, or Diane Redfield Massie titles.

Synopsis:
The story follows a young Brush-tail Possum who spends his days curled up in a high tree bed and his nights wide awake, watching the moonlight dance through the jungle. Possum insists he isn’t afraid of the dark—he’s “brave”—but the truth is he’s cold and uneasy. His jungle friends—Wombat, Spiny Anteater, Koala, and others—try to help while warning him he may get eaten if he stays put. Possum believes he has no choice… because “that’s what possums always do.” As the story unfolds, he learns courage isn’t about pretending you’re not scared—it’s about facing the night with friends who look out for you. It’s a sweet, old-fashioned tale about bravery, community, and the comfort of belonging.

Condition: Good - Due to musty smell
The book itself is in excellent shape for its age. The spine is tight, the pages are clean, and there aren’t any scribbles or tears. It looks like it was read carefully and then stored away. It does have a musty smell from long storage. The odor may lessen as it airs out, but it’s there.
