Antique American Brilliant Crystal Cut Glass Bowl with Daisies, Small Floral Sawtooth Rim Dish

This little bowl has that quiet beauty you only see in early glass. It’s a small antique American Brilliant crystal cut glass bowl, with finely cut daisies and long sweeping leaves that move around the bowl in a gentle swirl. The rim has a sharp sawtooth edge — still crisp after more than a hundred years — and there are no chips or cracks anywhere. In normal light the glass is clear and bright, but under a blacklight it gives off an unmistakable yellow glow. Pieces like this were cut by hand, one at a time, and rarely marked, which is why you won’t find a maker’s name on it.
This is the kind of bowl that would have held nuts, candies, or sweets on a parlor table or sideboard. Today it’s just as happy being used or sitting in a cabinet where the cut work can really be appreciated.
