These old teacups really catch your eye This is a matching set of four vintage teacups and saucers, made in Japan in the years just after World War II. They’re crafted from thin eggshell porcelain, light in the hand, with a soft luster finish both inside and out that catches the light beautifully with a rainbow pattern.
Each cup and saucer is hand painted with a gentle countryside scene — rolling hills, a winding path, flowering trees, and a small cottage tucked into the landscape. The colors are calm and nostalgic, the kind of design meant to sit on a tea table and be admired, not rushed through.
These were made for the American export market in the late 1940s to early 1950s, when Japanese porcelain was prized for its delicacy and decorative charm. They weren’t everyday workhorses — they were brought out for company, afternoon tea, or simply to enjoy.
