Vintage Children’s Book, The Secret Life of Harold the Bird Watcher, Weekly Reader

$12.00

This is a quiet little book from a time when children’s stories didn’t shout to be heard. The Secret Life of Harold the Bird Watcher was published in 1978 as part of the Weekly Reader Books program. If you grew up getting Weekly Readers at school, you already know the feel of these books — sturdy hardcovers, thoughtful stories, and meant to be read more than once. The illustrations are black-and-white line drawings typical of the late 1970s — simple, calm, and perfectly matched to the tone of the story. This is not a flashy collectible — it’s an honest vintage children’s book with heart, perfect for a reader, a teacher, a homeschool shelf, or anyone who remembers Weekly Reader days.

Synopsis:
Harold is a nine-year-old boy who spends his time watching birds along a river. He’s a loner, comfortable in his own world, and often overlooked by others. When something dangerous happens, Harold has to act — and in doing so, learns that being true to who you are can take real courage. It’s a gentle story about quiet kids, inner strength, and finding your own kind of bravery.

Good: Describes the average used book that has all pages or leaves present. Any defects should be noted by the seller.
