These two ruby glass mugs are from Avon’s old Cape Cod line—back when folks still set the dining room table for holidays and saved the “good dishes” for company. They stand about 5 inches tall, hold 6 ounces, and have that deep red color that shows through bright when it hits the light. The pattern has a lot of texture—diamond cuts, circles, and those old-fashioned molded handles—so they look fancy even though they were everyday tableware for a lot of families. Avon had these made for them starting in the mid-1970s up through the early ‘90s, and Wheaton Glass in New Jersey did the actual production. The idea was to bring back the look of Victorian pressed glass. Great for everyday or for holiday punch, mulled cider, display, or just setting the table the old way.
