Some pieces aren’t meant to be fancy, they’re just meant to work—and they end up surviving a hundred years because of it. This old footed glass is one of those. Heavy in the hand, fire-polished rim, an applied foot, and a smoothed pontil scar underneath that tells you it was hand blown. The glass holds 12 oz. When you hit it with a blacklight it flashes a yellow-green. Back in its day—late 1800s into the early 1900s—this would have been a beer or water glass at the table, the kind you found in good boarding houses and taverns that expected their glassware to hold up. It’s a straightforward, no-nonsense piece that still does its job today.
