There’s something about clear glass on a supper table that just feels right. It doesn’t shout, it doesn’t clash, it just quietly does its job and looks good doing it. That’s what we’ve got here — one fruit-bottom serving bowl and two crescent-shaped side bowls that tuck right in alongside it. They weren’t born together, but you’d never know it by how well they behave as a set. The large bowl is Federal Glass in the Pioneer pattern, and the crescent sides are Indiana Glass in the Fruits pattern. Both carry fruit motifs, both are sturdy mid-century pressed glass, and together they make an honest, useful service set that doesn’t need fancy introductions. We’ve used sets like this for chips and salsa, veggies and dip, fruit and yogurt, or salad toppings when everyone is doing their own thing. It works in a way that makes you wonder why they ever stopped making tableware like this. If you enjoy hosting, snacking, or just like practical vintage pieces that earn their shelf space, this little trio does the trick.
