Vintage English Bone China Demitasse Cup and Saucer Cobalt Blue Gold Gilt Floral

This tiny English bone china demitasse cup and saucer is finished in a rich cobalt blue with intricate gold scrollwork wrapped around the cup like fine old lace. Inside the cup, a bright floral bouquet blooms in soft pinks, blues, and greens — classic English garden style. This is a charming mid-century English piece with strong color, elegant detailing, and that unmistakable bone china translucency. It may be small — but it has presence.

The cup measures just 2 inches tall and 2 inches across, paired with a 4¾ inch saucer. It’s true demitasse size — meant for espresso or after-dinner coffee — though it displays beautifully in a cabinet where that cobalt catches the light.

The backstamp reads “England Bone China” beneath a crown. The factory name area has been intentionally covered with matching gilt during decoration, a practice often seen on mid-20th century export or private-label pieces produced for department stores. The quality of the porcelain, cobalt ground, and heavy gilding suggest Staffordshire production, circa 1945–1965.
