This charming little bowl was made in Italy and hand painted with bold folk-style flowers in rich reds, blues, and golden yellow, surrounded by soft green leaves. Each brushstroke was done by hand, giving the piece that slightly imperfect character that makes Italian ceramics so loved and collected. Stamped Italy on the bottom, this bowl dates to around the late 1950s to early 1960s, when beautifully made European pottery filled American homes as everyday decorative pieces. It’s just the right size for candies, nuts, jewelry, keys, or simply displayed where its cheerful colors can brighten a room.
The glaze shows light age-appropriate crazing, which is normal for vintage tin-glazed Italian pottery and part of its authentic character. There are no chips or cracks. The rim shows light roughness from manufacture and years of gentle use.
