These white stoneware trays were made by Pfaltzgraff for Eastern Air Lines, back when airlines still served meals on real dishes instead of plastic trays. During the golden age of jet travel, airlines often used sturdy restaurant-grade ceramics for first-class and premium cabin service. Pfaltzgraff produced durable stoneware pieces like these that could stand up to constant use while still looking clean and simple on the table. Their softly rounded rectangular shape makes them surprisingly versatile. They’re just the right size for bread and butter, appetizers, small desserts, olives, or condiments. The underside is marked Eastern 44-CA-0035 along with the Pfaltzgraff USA mark, identifying them as part of an airline service contract. Both trays are in excellent vintage condition. The glaze is bright and clean with no chips, cracks, crazing, staining, or utensil marks. A neat little piece of airline dining history that is still perfectly useful in a modern kitchen.
