These white stoneware trays were made by Pfaltzgraff in the United States for American Airlines, back when airlines served food on real dishes rather than disposable plastic trays.
Durable restaurant-grade ceramics like these were designed to stand up to constant use in airline galleys. Their softly rounded rectangular shape makes them surprisingly versatile.
They are just the right size for serving bread and butter, appetizers, olives, desserts, or small side dishes. They also work well for condiments or tapas when entertaining. The underside of each tray is marked Pfaltzgraff USA with the airline contract code AA 73 DI 67, indicating a production run made for American Airlines service. All four trays are in excellent vintage condition with no chips or cracks. The glaze is bright and clean, and the pieces show very little wear. A neat little piece of airline dining history that still works perfectly in a modern kitchen.
