This beautiful Victorian glass piece started life over 125 years ago as the bottom half of a covered butter dish made by U.S. Glass in their Colorado pattern from the States Series, circa 1898. Somewhere along the way, the original cover was lost to time, but honestly, this old piece still has so much presence that it hardly feels incomplete. The bowl shape and elegant pedestal design makes it perfect today as an open candy dish or centerpiece bowl.
A lovely survivor from the Victorian era that still works beautifully in a modern home more than a century later.
It would look wonderful filled with:
M&Ms
Wrapped candies
Mints
Nuts
Potpourri
Jewelry on a vanity table
The three sculptured feet and elaborate Victorian pressed details are what really make this piece stand out. The beaded rims, ribbed glass, and ornate molded patterns catch the light beautifully from every angle. Even the raised ring where the cover originally rested blends naturally into the design and almost looks intentional, giving the bowl extra depth and character. This is Early American Pressed Glass (EAPG) by U.S. Glass in the Colorado pattern, part of their famous States Series line produced around 1898. The glass has a light glow consistent with magnesium glass often found in pieces from this era.
Condition is excellent for its age with:
No chips
No cracks
Beautiful clarity
Crisp molded detail
Measurements:
7 inches diameter
2½ inches high
This would make a great holiday or special occasion gift. Treat yourself and entertain in style.
