Antique EAPG Rose in Snow Compote Bowl, c1883, Campbell Jones Glass, Victorian Pedestal Bowl

This old pedestal bowl has survived well over a century, and you can still see the care that went into even everyday glass back then. The pattern is Rose in Snow (Rose in the Snow), first produced around 1883 and attributed to Campbell Jones & Co., later associated with Bryce Glass. The delicate raised rose and foliage design sits against a stippled “snow” texture that gives the pattern its name. At one time this piece would have had a matching lid, likely lost sometime over its long life, but the bowl itself has survived beautifully for more than a century.

The clear glass glows a soft green under UV light, typical of late 1800s manganese glass, adding another little reminder of its Victorian age. This would make a beautiful display piece for a sideboard, vanity, holiday table, or simply a lovely place to hold wrapped candy, jewelry, potpourri, dried flowers, or treasured little keepsakes. A lovely piece of Victorian Early American Pressed Glass with wonderful texture and character — and still ready to be enjoyed after all these years.

Condition: Excellent
No chips or cracks. The original lid is missing.
