This vintage small oval platter features a clean white finish with classic green band detailing around the edge and center. Its size makes it great for serving small treats, holding cookies or pastries, relishes, snacks, or even as a catchall dish in a farmhouse kitchen.
Based on the impressed backstamp, this piece was made by Scammell, a maker known for durable restaurant china used in diners, hotels, and restaurants through much of the early to mid-20th century. The understated green stripe gives it that timeless diner and luncheonette feel without being overly decorative.
It measures approximately 7¼ inches in length and 5 inches in width.
This platter is in excellent vintage condition with no chips, cracks, or crazing. There are a few tiny manufacturing marks under the glaze, including a couple of small yellow specks and tiny dark dots from production — common in older restaurant china and part of how it was originally made.
Whether added to a collection of vintage restaurant china, used for serving small bites, or displayed in a farmhouse or cottage kitchen, this little platter still has plenty of usefulness left in it.
