Paul Mauriat was a French orchestra leader, arranger, and composer whose lush instrumental recordings became popular throughout Europe, Japan, and North America during the 1960s and 1970s. Before achieving international fame with his chart-topping recording of Love Is Blue in 1967, Mauriat released a series of orchestral albums featuring contemporary pop songs, movie themes, and international favorites arranged in his distinctive easy-listening style. Mauriat Magic was released by Philips Records in 1968 during the height of the easy listening era. The album features instrumental interpretations of popular songs of the period, including San Francisco (Wear Some Flowers In Your Hair) and Michelle. Estimated age: approximately 58 years old (1968 release).
