Originally released in 1970, Tap Root Manuscript represented an important creative step in Neil Diamond's career. The album combined his successful pop songwriting with gospel, folk, and orchestral influences, most notably through the ambitious "African Trilogy" suite that occupies much of Side Two. This MCA Records pressing is a later reissue of the original UNI Records release. The cover notes that MCA-2013 was formerly catalog number 93092, reflecting MCA's reissue of the album following its acquisition of the UNI catalog.
More than fifty years after its original release, Tap Root Manuscript remains a favorite among Neil Diamond collectors and fans of classic singer-songwriter vinyl. This copy includes the original lyric booklet, a feature often missing from vintage examples found today.
