Men Wanted by Fred B. Smith is an original 1911 edition published by Association Press, the publishing arm of the YMCA. Written during the Progressive Era, this antique volume explores the qualities that its author believed were essential for success and character: honesty, loyalty, initiative, perseverance, faith, and personal responsibility. Rather than being a novel, Men Wanted is an early self-improvement and religious leadership book aimed at young men entering adulthood and the working world. More than a century later, it offers a fascinating glimpse into the values, expectations, and social ideals of early twentieth-century America.
This copy retains its original cloth binding and remains complete with all pages present. An early gift inscription to Wilbur Hayward from William Bogart appears on the front flyleaf, adding a touch of personal history to this well-preserved volume.

History
Published in 1911 by Association Press for the Young Men's Christian Association (YMCA), Men Wanted was written by Fred B. Smith, a prominent YMCA leader and speaker. Smith was heavily involved in the Men and Religion Forward Movement, an influential campaign that encouraged moral leadership, personal responsibility, and Christian values among men during the early twentieth century. The book reflects a period when organizations such as the YMCA sought to guide young men through the challenges of rapidly changing industrial society. Today it remains an interesting piece of American religious, social, and self-help history. A wonderful addition to any collection of antique books, YMCA memorabilia, religious history, or early motivational literature.
