History
The Hartford pattern was introduced by the Tarentum Glass Company of Tarentum, Pennsylvania in 1899. Today the pattern is commonly known by collectors as Heart and Thumbprint because of its distinctive heart-shaped panels and textured geometric design. Tarentum was one of the leading manufacturers of Early American Pattern Glass (EAPG), producing elegant pressed glass that allowed middle-class households to enjoy decorative tableware at a fraction of the cost of hand-cut crystal. The Hartford pattern was offered in a variety of forms including rose bowls, spooners, berry bowls, and serving pieces. Its romantic heart motif and sparkling pressed design have helped it remain popular with collectors for more than a century. This rose bowl dates to the early years of production, making it approximately 115 to 125 years old. Its exceptional clarity and crisp molding demonstrate the quality of American glassmaking at the turn of the twentieth century.

A great gift for any holiday or special occasion.
