History
Anchor Hocking was one of America's largest and most successful glass manufacturers during the twentieth century. During the 1950s and 1960s, milk glass became extremely popular in American homes, prized for its clean appearance and versatility. The Golden Shell pattern was part of Anchor Hocking's decorative milk glass line and featured elegant ribbing resembling seashells along with a gold-trimmed scalloped rim. These pieces were intended to bring a touch of formal dining style to everyday family meals and holiday gatherings.
Today, Golden Shell remains a popular pattern among collectors of mid-century glassware because of its timeless white color, graceful design, and practicality. Pieces are still frequently used and displayed more than sixty years after they were made.
