Because a Little Bug Went Ka-Choo! is one of those children's books that's just as much fun for the person reading it as it is for the child listening. Written in lively rhyme by Rosetta Stone, a pen name used by Dr. Seuss, the story follows a tiny bug whose sneeze starts a hilarious chain reaction that grows bigger with every page. The colorful illustrations by Michael Frith perfectly match the playful story, making this a wonderful book for reading aloud at bedtime or sharing with beginning readers. Whether you're adding to a Beginner Books collection, replacing a favorite from childhood, or looking for a fun book to read aloud with a young child, this charming story still delivers plenty of laughs nearly fifty years after it was published.

History
Published in 1975, Because a Little Bug Went Ka-Choo! is part of the popular Beginner Books series created by Random House to help young children develop reading confidence through entertaining stories with controlled vocabulary. Although credited to Rosetta Stone, the book has a fascinating history. Rosetta Stone was one of the pen names used by Theodor Seuss Geisel—better known as Dr. Seuss. He occasionally used pseudonyms so the Beginner Books line would feature what appeared to be a variety of authors while still maintaining the playful style that made his books so beloved. The illustrations were created by Michael Frith, one of the most recognizable artists associated with Beginner Books. Frith later became the founding editor of Jim Henson's Muppet Magazine and played an important role in children's publishing during the 1970s and 1980s. His expressive illustrations add energy and humor to every page and perfectly complement the rhythmic storytelling.
