Vintage 1988 Bugg Off Skeeter Topsy Turvy Children's Book, Stephen Cosgrove, Two Stories in One

Now this is an unusual children's book. Bugg Off / Skeeter is a vintage 1988 hardcover children's book written by Stephen Cosgrove and illustrated by Charles Reasoner. It was published by H. S. Stuttman Inc. as part of the Read Aloud Topsy-Turvy Library.

What makes this book so different is the way it is constructed. It is actually two children's stories in one book, with no traditional back cover. Start with Bugg Off and read the story from that cover toward the center of the book. When you finish, close the book, turn the entire book upside down, and what was the back becomes another front cover. From there you begin Skeeter and read toward the center again. In other words, the book has two covers, two title pages and two stories, with each story beginning at an opposite end of the book.

Inside are two separate, fully illustrated stories — Bugg Off and Skeeter. A few interior pages from each story are shown in the photographs so you can get a peek at the colorful illustrations and unusual Topsy-Turvy format.

Two stories in one book

Condition: Good
The covers show rubbing along with corner and edge wear. There is light staining along the spine on the blue Skeeter side of the book. A child's name is written on the inside front cover at both ends of the book. The spine and binding remain tight. The story pages are clean and bright with no writing or other markings.
