Vintage 1977 Lester Flatt's Bluegrass Festival Double LP, Nashville Grass, Lewis Family, Pinnacle Boys

Step back into a 1977 bluegrass festival with this original double vinyl album, Lester Flatt's Bluegrass Festival, featuring Lester Flatt & The Nashville Grass, The Lewis Family and The Pinnacle Boys. Recorded live at Lester Flatt's Bluegrass Festival near Pinnacle, North Carolina, this two-record set captures traditional bluegrass as it was being performed before a live festival audience in June 1977. The gatefold cover is filled with photographs from the festival, including the performers, stage, audience and scenes from around the grounds.

An especially interesting part of this recording is the presence of a young Marty Stuart, who played mandolin with Lester Flatt & The Nashville Grass. Stuart appears on the Lester Flatt performances throughout the album, years before becoming widely known for his own country music career.

Gatefold Cover:
The cover has light rubbing and shelf wear from age and storage. The interior of the gatefold is clean and displays well. There are no seam splits.
Original Inner Sleeves:
Both original paper inner sleeves are included. They have yellowed with age but remain intact with no rips, tears or seam splits.
Vinyl:
Both records retain their glossy finish. There are light surface marks consistent with age and previous use, but no deep scratches or gouges were observed.

History
By 1977, Lester Flatt was already one of the established names in American bluegrass. Following his celebrated years performing with Earl Scruggs, Flatt continued traditional bluegrass with his band The Nashville Grass. This album was recorded during Flatt's own Bluegrass Festival near Pinnacle, North Carolina in June 1977. Rather than being a conventional studio album, the set preserves performances by several acts appearing at the festival. Personnel documented for the Nashville Grass recordings include Lester Flatt, Kenny Ingram, Clarence "Tater" Tate, J.R. "Curly" Seckler, Marty Stuart, Charlie Nixon and Jarvis "Pete" Corum. The four sides contain 26 selections, ranging from bluegrass standards to instrumentals and gospel favorites. Songs include Why Did You Wander, Down the Road, Roll in My Sweet Baby's Arms, When I Stop Dreaming, I Know What It Means to Be Lonesome, Dim Lights, Thick Smoke, Goin' Up Cripple Creek, Hot Corn, Cold Corn and the closing Will the Circle Be Unbroken.
