This round 1½-quart casserole was made by Anchor Hocking as part of its Fire-King ovenware line. The exterior has a lustrous copper-colored finish that changes beautifully with the light and was called Copper Tint, while the interior is classic bright white Fire-King glass. Made for everyday kitchens, this casserole could go from baking to serving at the table. Today it has just as much appeal displayed with a collection of vintage kitchenware as it does as a serving piece.

Condition:
There are no chips or cracks. The white interior is bright and clean with no noticeable utensil marks. The Copper Tint exterior shows scratching, rubbing and wear from age and use, which can be seen in the photographs. Please note that the Copper Tint finish changes considerably depending upon the lighting. The actual color is closer to the darker copper color shown in the photographs. When light reflects from the white interior, the exterior can photograph considerably lighter.
History
Anchor Hocking introduced Fire-King in 1942, producing durable heat-resistant glassware intended for the American kitchen. Although made first and foremost to be functional, Fire-King's colors and decorations helped turn everyday bakeware into something attractive enough to bring directly to the table. The Copper Tint pattern dates from 1958 to 1971 and is described as a copper lustre exterior over white glass, with the white interior left exposed. That gives this casserole a nice place in the mid-century period when colorful oven-to-table cookware was becoming a familiar sight in American kitchens.
