Being nine really is fine — especially when there’s a present involved! This sweet little Cherished Teddies bear is ready to celebrate a very important 9th birthday. Sitting beside a wrapped present covered with the number 9, the bear wears a soft yellow bow and carries a little heart on her chest. Titled “Being Nine Is Really Fine!”, this Cherished Teddies figurine was designed by Priscilla Hillman and produced by Enesco in 1998. The underside retains the original identifying information, including figurine number 466255. Rather than being just another teddy bear figurine, this one was made to mark a particular childhood milestone. It would make a cute vintage keepsake for a 9th birthday — something small enough for a dresser, bookshelf or memory shelf that can remain long after the birthday cake is gone.

History
Cherished Teddies grew from the artwork of American artist Priscilla Hillman, whose teddy bear characters became enormously popular collectible figurines during the 1990s. Cherished Teddies were part of the tremendous figurine-collecting movement of the 1990s, when gift shops carried collectible lines intended for birthdays, holidays, friendships and other occasions.
