This sweet vintage Precious Moments mug features one of Samuel J. Butcher's familiar little girls carrying a basket overflowing with flowers. Beneath the illustration are the words “The earth is the Lord's,” a reference to Psalm 24:1. Made in Korea for Enesco Imports Corp., the mug is marked © 1985 Samuel J. Butcher and still retains its original gold Enesco Designed Giftware foil label on the bottom.
A lovely early Precious Moments collectible for a collector of Samuel J. Butcher designs, vintage Enesco giftware, or Christian and inspirational pieces.
Condition:
The mug is in excellent vintage condition and appears to have seen little, if any, use. The white finish remains clean and bright, including the interior, and the delicate illustration remains clear and colorful.

History:
Precious Moments began with artist Samuel J. Butcher, whose distinctive illustrations of children with large teardrop-shaped eyes became popular during the 1970s. His artwork was deeply influenced by his Christian faith, and Biblical verses and inspirational messages became an important part of the Precious Moments line. Enesco began producing Precious Moments porcelain figurines in 1978, and the enormous popularity of the characters soon led to an extensive range of collectible and household giftware.
