Vintage 1972 Melanie – The Four Sides of Melanie, a two-record compilation released by Buddah Records, catalog number BDS 95005. The unusual album cover was designed to unfold and refold into a three-dimensional cube, giving a very literal meaning to The Four Sides of Melanie.

Condition:
A complete example of an unusually designed 1970s record package, with both LPs, original inner sleeves and the fold-out cube cover still together.
Cover:
This original fold-out cover is complete and still folds properly into the cube. It has no tears or seam splits. There is visible edge and corner wear from age and storage; please see the photos for a close look at its condition.
Inner Sleeves:
Both original inner sleeves are included. They show normal age wear and have no splits.
LP Vinyl Records:
Record One: Retains good gloss with normal handling and play marks. No deep gouges or scratches noted.
Record Two: Also retains its gloss. Side C has several more visible scratches than the other sides. No deep gouges noted.
The labels are the original Buddah Records labels and all four sides are present. Deadwax markings include BDS 95005 A-1, B-1, C-1 and D-1. One side also has G. KONG handwritten in the deadwax.
History
Released in 1972, The Four Sides of Melanie is a 23-song double-LP compilation issued by Buddah Records as BDS 95005. Period record-industry coverage described it as a collection of Melanie's best-known material and singled out its unusually intricate packaging. The album also appeared on the Cash Box album chart during 1972.
The packaging is one of the album's most distinctive features. The large, illustrated fold-out sleeve was specifically designed so it could be folded into a square box or cube, with the artwork becoming its exterior surfaces.
