Set of six vintage Japanese porcelain cream soup bowls, each with two handles and a colorful floral and scroll design. The bowls have white centers surrounded by a soft cream band decorated with pink, yellow and blue flowers, green leaves and ornate green scrollwork. Pale green bands accent the rims, with gold trim along the edges and gold decoration on the handles.
Each bowl measures approximately:
5 inches in diameter
2 inches high

Each of the 6 bowls have no chips, cracks, or crazing. The white centers are unstained with no utensil marks.
History
These double-handled bowls are a traditional cream soup shape, intended for serving smooth or puréed soups at a formal table. The two small handles allowed the soup to be sipped from the bowl after using a spoon. The bowls are marked “Made in Japan” with an unidentified crown and star backstamp. Japanese export china marked “Japan” or “Made in Japan” became common after 1921.
