History
Released in 1971, Every Good Boy Deserves Favour was the seventh studio album by the Moody Blues. Its unusual title comes from the familiar musical mnemonic E-G-B-D-F — “Every Good Boy Deserves Favour” — used to remember the notes on the lines of the treble clef.
The album was produced by Tony Clarke, with recording engineering by Derek Varnals and sleeve artwork by Phil Travers. The original liner information identifies Threshold catalog number THS 5. The album opens with the experimental “Procession,” followed by “The Story in Your Eyes,” one of the best-known songs from the record. Other tracks include “Emily's Song,” “After You Came,” “Nice to Be Here,” “You Can Never Go Home” and “My Song.” Every Good Boy Deserves Favour was a major success for the group, reaching No. 1 on the UK album chart in 1971. This U.S. copy carries the Threshold THS 5 catalog number and retains its gatefold cover and original inner sleeve. The photographed STERLING marking in the dead wax provides an additional identifying feature of this particular record.
