Set of four vintage Sango China bread and butter plates in the Morena pattern, made in Japan. History
Sango produced a wide variety of Japanese dinnerware for the American market, ranging from everyday tableware to more formal patterns accented with metallic trim. Morena #6280 is a discontinued Sango pattern featuring a gray floral design on white china finished with a narrow platinum edge. The backstamp on these plates reads Sango China®, Japan, Morena, 6280. The registered-trademark style of the mark is consistent with later Sango production and suggests an 1980s-era date. Sango-related U.S. trademark records from the early 1980s provide additional support for dating pieces carrying this style of registered mark to that general period.
